How To Stop Worrying And Trust The Universe: 9 Essential Tips

How to stop worrying and trust the universe

Trusting the universe brings together spirituality, personal development, and emotional well-being. At its essence, trusting the universe means having faith that there is a greater plan at work in your life, even if you can’t see or understand it. It involves letting go of the need to control every aspect of your life and instead, embracing the flow of events with an open heart and mind. Fear and worry often stop us from trusting the universe. Pressures of life; responsibilities, challenges and uncertainty of the future can cause stress and worry. The ability to let go of these concerns and trust the universe provides a profound sense of peace, calm and liberation.

This blog will explore 9 effective tips for you to learn how to stop worrying and trust the universe. Here’s how you can start this transformative journey:

The Importance of Trusting the Universe

‘Trust the Universe’ sounds like a spiritual cliché, but it can be a powerful mindset and a way of finding peace and calming worry. I used to think this was an annoying saying, but now that I have learned to understand what this phrase means, I have found comfort in it. Now, when things feel out of my control, I use this phrase to calm my worries and to hold hope that things are happening for me, not to me.

This kind of trust doesn’t mean that we just have to accept everything that comes our way. It doesn’t mean taking a passive approach to life; in fact, quite the opposite. It means that we work towards making things happen and reaching our goals, but when things don’t go right or there are stressful situations outside of our control, we can have faith, take it as a lesson, and maintain calm minds while feeling supported and guided. Trusting that there is a bigger picture to our lives and meaning for everything that happens can help build resilience and get you through the hard times.

Trusting Yourself as Part of Trusting the Universe

It can also help to learn to trust your talents, abilities, and strengths. I have learned to trust that I have been given the gifts I’ve been given for a reason. That my abilities and strengths are all for a bigger purpose. For example, I have a strong sense of empathy and can feel other people’s pain and distress. At times I have struggled with this; it can be draining and difficult, but it’s also the gift that allows me to help people. It’s the gift that made me become a social worker, and work as a counsellor and coach.

Trusting the universe can be difficult at first but is a very powerful way to improve our well-being and live our true purpose.

9 Essential Tips to Learn How to Stop Worrying and Trust The Universe

1. Acknowledge and Understand Your Fears

This is an important first step on how to stop worrying and trust the universe. If we don’t take time to understand what we are afraid of or try to suppress or deny our fears we are more likely to amplify them. A lot of the time when we stop to reflect on our fears they are typically projections of a future that may never happen. Give yourself some time to reflect on these, meditate on them, and write them down. By understanding and acknowledging these fears, where they come from and the impact they are having, we take their power away and demystify them. Doing this can make it easier to release the fear and trust the universe’s guidance.

2. Cultivate a Meditation Practice

Meditation is a powerful tool for calming your mind, centring your thoughts and connecting to your higher self. As I mentioned in the last tip; a lot of the fear we experience is about future events that are yet to happen. Meditation provides a way to focus on the here and now, take time out from the worry, find inner peace and let go of fears and anxieties.

Set aside time each day. Even 5 minutes of focused breathing can make a significant difference. With increased practice, you can experiment with different types of meditations and learn to connect to your higher self and universal messaging to increase trust in your path.

3. Learn to Let Go of Control

Trying to control all aspects of our lives can increase our fear of the unknown. In truth, we can’t control a lot of what happens in our lives. Learning to let go of control and trusting that the universe has a greater plan for you, can help you see the possibilities and opportunities for growth and potential.

To let go of control reflect on situations in your life and seriously ask yourself what areas you have; control, influence or no control. This will help you determine where to put your focus and energy and what aspects to let go of and trust the universe. If you have difficulty with control perhaps consider seeking support to understand and work on your need for control.

4. Embrace a Gratitude Practice

Gratitude is a powerful way to recognize abundance and positivity in our lives which helps to foster a sense of contentment. This practice can transform your mindset and make it easier to trust that the universe is providing for you in meaningful ways.

Try a gratitude journal. Start practising writing down 3 things a day that you are grateful for. Another great way to practice gratitude is to do it with a friend or loved one. Try sharing what you are grateful for with them each day. Also try to remind yourself regularly to be grateful to the universe for having your back and providing the amazing opportunities you have in your life.

5. Establish a Spiritual Routine

Having a spiritual routine can help to connect to higher energies and reinforce your trust in the universe’s plan. Having a routine of any sort can help to build trust in yourself. By showing yourself you can regularly repeat behaviours that have a positive effect on your life, you prove to yourself that you can be consistent and trust your own word. Adding a spiritual component to this routine can help you trust yourself and the universe.

The spiritual component is up to you entirely. It can be meditation, reading spiritual texts, choosing a crystal to carry with you or using a divination tool such as tarot. Your spiritual routine should be completely individual. It can be anything that makes you feel joy, grounded and connected to the universe.

6. Accept and Embrace Uncertainty

Life is inevitably unpredictable. Therefore, an important part of how to stop worrying and trust the universe is to learn to embrace uncertainty. Accepting uncertainty is an important part of releasing fear and trusting in infinite possibilities. Accepting and embracing uncertainty allows us to flow with life rather than resisting it.

Synchronicities

7. Understand That Not Getting What You Want Can Be a Blessing

Sometimes we want things in life that aren’t necessarily for us and the path planned for us. It can be disappointing when we want a particular job, for example, only to be turned down. However, months later we find the job of our dreams or find out that the company went bankrupt. ‘A blessing in disguise’.

Trusting in the universe’s wisdom and timing helps in making these setbacks easier to bare. Reflect on past experiences. Have there been times when not getting what you wanted led to a better outcome? How can you apply this thinking in the future when you face disappointments or setbacks? Try to keep your mind on the bigger picture and remind yourself that there is purpose behind these things.

8. Learn to Look for Synchronicities

I don’t know if you have noticed synchronicities in your life before but I find great comfort in seeing them. Often it’s in numbers, I regularly see repeating numbers 444 or 555 or even patterns like 911 or 411. These don’t only show on the clock but on license plates, game scores, or phone numbers.

Noticing synchronicities or meaningful coincidences, as Jung called them1, is a way of the universe communicating with you. It can be a message to reinforce your thought or belief or it could be guidance or encouragement with a decision. Learning to see and understand these messages can help to develop trust in the universe’s path. Try keeping a journal to note these synchronicities and reflect on the meaning. You can look up others’ meanings or decide on a meaning for yourself. Be aware of your thoughts and feelings at the time of seeing the synchronicity as it may just be encouragement or a warning.

9. Develop Your Intuition

Lastly, developing your intuition is an important way to learn to trust in the universe. Having a strong sense of your intuition strengthens your inner guidance system, trust your instincts and listen to the universe’s subtle messages. This is another great way to trust yourself as well as the universe in making decisions as it connects you with your higher self. As your intuition develops you will learn to trust your instincts and start to make decisions for your highest self and your greatest good.

Practice quieting your mind and tuning into your inner wisdom. Try to listen to your gut, especially when making decisions. Listen for the ‘hell yes’ and the ‘hell no’ in your body. Another great way to practice is to try to predict objects, for example, use cards; draw one from the deck but before looking at it leave it face down and try to guess which it is. Focus on it, try to visualise it and trust what comes to mind or what you feel.

Ceremonial Cacao

Dive into the benefits of ceremonial cacao and discover how this ancient superfood can transform your meditation practice into a deeply enriching spiritual journey.

Hello Beautiful Soul, I’m excited to introduce you to ceremonial cacao.

In pursuing wellness and spiritual depth, the ancient practice of incorporating ceremonial cacao into meditation has resurfaced as a transformative ritual. This guide explores the profound benefits of ceremonial cacao, differentiating it from everyday cocoa and cacao, tracing its rich history, and detailing how it enhances meditation practices. Plus, enjoy an exclusive 10% off Australian Ceremonial Cacao.

I was first introduced to ceremonial cacao in Bali in 2020 (one week before the pandemic really took hold, phew). I was there on a Goddess retreat and fell in love with this special plant after the first cup. We did a ritual as part of our evening meditation and it was a beautiful and deep experience. Despite the caffeine, I also had the best sleep ever straight after. I have been using ceremonial cacao ever since to deepen my meditations and rituals, along with the health benefits.

Cocoa vs Cacao vs Ceremonial Cacao: What is the difference?

I’m sure we have all heard of and likely tasted cocoa in the form of chocolate, right? So what are cacao and ceremonial cacao? Well, the difference between all three is the processing. They all come from the same tree but the way it’s made makes a significant difference.

Cocoa – Goes through processing before it gets to us. It gets roasted, ground, tempered, conched and refined sugar and additives are added. Then it gets to us.

Cacao – is the raw and pure form. It’s either lightly sun-dried or fermented with minimal heat. There is some heat to make it safe to consume but as little as possible. So it has all the good stuff without the additives.

Ceremonial Cacao – is the same as cacao, however, due to the ceremonial use (and if you buy the right stuff) it is respected at every step of the way. It is shown love and reverence at each stage of processing, is sustainably farmed and has a single origin.

Sweet History of Ceremonial Cacao

It’s important to acknowledge the cultural heritage of Cacao if you want to use it in your meditation practice and want to get the best from it.

Cacao was used by Amazonian and Mesoamerican cultures for many ceremonial rites and rituals. These cultures had a deep awareness and connection to the gifts, wisdom and medicine of the earth. The cacao bean was often referred to as a gift from the gods or the food of the gods, as it was believed to have mystical properties that allowed users to commune with higher realms. Although it is used in different ways nowadays, it continues to be used in spiritual rituals to gain spiritual insight and connect with ancestors, spirits, universe etc.

Ceremonial Cacao bean

This photo demonstrates what the cacao bean looks like when it is freshly opened.

The cacao pod itself had significance to these ancient cultures. It was said, the cacao bean inside was the sweetness of life. The hard casing outside represented layers of experiences and challenges. This beautiful representation of life reflects that we must overcome challenges to get to the sweet centre of life.

The Zen Connection: Benefits of Ceremonial Cacao on Meditation

Meditation Tip: the goal isn’t to empty your mind but to observe your thoughts and feelings without judgment, gently guiding your focus back to a point of reference, like your breath or a mantra.

We have all heard of the benefits of meditation like stress reduction, improved mood, increased self-awareness and better sleep. However, it is not that easy for everyone to practice meditation.

Meditation

Ceremonial cacao is a potent facilitator for meditation. It is said to assist:

Heart Opening

Ceremonial Cacao is referred to as the ‘heart opener’ as it increases blood flow and oxygenation of the brain. This enhances connection and empathy, leading to a deeper and more heartfelt meditation.

Improved Mood

The Cacao bean contains compounds that elevate mood and decrease stress, creating a more positive and receptive state for meditation.

Increased Focus

As Cacao is a mild stimulant it can help to create a focus and attentiveness that can help maintain meditation.

Mindfulness

The preparation ritual itself can be a mindful practice that helps prepare for deeper meditation. Using your senses and setting intention during the preparation starts the zen before sitting down to start.

Benefits of Ceremonial Cacao

The reason this amazing plant can do all this is because of something called, Theobromine. Theobromine is a natural stimulant that works similarly to caffeine, however, it has longer-lasting effects and is more gentle (a massive plus to those of you who get the jitters on caffeine). Theobromine is also known to improve mood, enhance blood flow and even has diuretic and heart-stimulant functions. Due to its stimulating effects and mood-boosting properties, it helps to make ceremonial cacao the perfect assistant to help you deepen your meditations.

Sanctifying Your Sanctuary: Preparing Yourself and Your Space

Creating a sacred space to take full advantage of this beautiful ritual is a must in my eyes.

  • Cleansing yourself and your space with sage, palo santo or incense can help to set the mood.
  • Setting intentions is an important step to have a clear idea in your mind of what you are hoping to get from the experience and what you want to work through or reflect on with the ritual and meditation.
  • Set up your environment to be calm and comfortable.
  • Ensure you have everything you might need for minimal interruptions – have water, a journal, a pen, and even extra paper to scribble on or draw on if you don’t want to do that in your journal.
  • Put away the technology! if you are using a guided meditation consider downloading it and putting your phone on airplane mode.
  • Prepare yourself – do whatever you need to get in the right mindset. I often spend some time in nature and have a shower first if I really want a deep meditation.

Brewing Bliss: How to Prepare Ceremonial Cacao

Preparing ceremonial cacao is an art. Start with high-quality Cacao, gently heat with water, milk or a non-dairy alternative, and whisk to a smooth, frothy consistency. Add spices or sweeteners as guided by your intuition and the traditions you resonate with. You can also just have it with nothing. I often drink just the cacao in hot water.

Part of the ritual for me is also to use the same mug that is just for cacao. You don’t need to do this but I enjoy it and makes it feel more special.

Integrating the Cacao in Meditation

The ritual itself is up to you! I like to take deep breaths and set my intentions whilst I stir in the cacao then I sit in my meditation space and sip it while I think about what I want to achieve or what I want to know from the experience, manifest or write down goals. Then once I have finished I put everything down and put on my guided meditation I have selected to go with my intention. I use Insight Timer as it is free and has thousands of beautiful meditations to choose from.

Self-Gratitude

Self-Gratitude: Elevate Your Mind, Spirit and Life

Self-Gratitude

Hello Beautiful Souls, I want to introduce you to the beautiful and healing practice of self-gratitude. This is an important practice that has many holistic benefits that help you to be your best self.

It’s like giving yourself a giant, warm hug. It’s celebrating everything that makes you unique, worthy and special.

In this article, we will look at what self-gratitude is and why it’s important, as well as, barriers that can create resistance. We will look at the best ways to practice this beautiful and healing ritual.

What is Self-Gratitude?

Self-gratitude is the practice of expressing appreciation for and celebrating parts of yourself. It helps you see and appreciate all of the great things about yourself. Your personality, abilities, talents, knowledge, and physical attributes.

Have you ever caught yourself being critical about a mistake? or beating yourself up for something you have forgotten?

I bet the way you spoke to yourself is harsher then you would ever speak to your family or friends. Self-gratitude will shift your negative self-talk to be more positive and kinder.

I’m sure you’ve heard of the practice of gratitude by now and likely all its benefits. But self-gratitude is all the benefits of gratitude but directed back to yourself.

Self-Love

Barriers and Challenges to Self-Gratitude

Unfortunately, practices like self-gratitude do not come naturally to us. This can be for several reasons. Some of the most common reasons include:

Perfectionism and Negative Self-Talk – Having harsh criticism and intolerance of personal mistakes can cause us to put unnecessary pressure on ourselves. This way of thinking can overshadow our achievements and best qualities.

Internalising Societal Pressures leading to guilt and shame – I’m sure we all have felt pressure before around the ways we ‘should’ act or milestones we ‘should’ achieve. But life doesn’t always work out that way. Sometimes we don’t get married, have children, or have the perfect career within the ‘appropriate’ timeframes…or at all. Internalising these pressures can lead to negative feelings of guilt and shame stopping us from truly appreciating the amazing person we are.

Fear of Selfishness – Often we get told that to provide ourselves care and love is to be selfish or self-centred. It’s not! This is actually the best thing you can do, not only for yourself but for your family, friends and society as a whole. Because if you love yourself you are more likely to be a better person and be better to others.

How Does Self-Gratitude Improve Our Mind, Spirit and Life?

Gratitude

Self-Gratitude Impacts on the Mind

Improves Mental Health – Ongoing practice of self-gratitude can help reduce symptoms of anxiety, depression and stress. Shifting attention from negative thought patterns to focus on the positive aspects of yourself and your life can help to shift to a more optimistic outlook.

Improves Self-Acceptance and Self-Love – Self-gratitude helps you, not only, accept yourself for who you are but also love all aspects of yourself. This increases your confidence self-worth and overall happiness.

Fosters a Growth Mindset – Self-gratitude nurtures a growth mindset by acknowledging personal progress and learning from experiences. This outlook embraces challenges, values effort, and views failures as opportunities to learn, leading to personal and professional development.

Higher Self

Self-Gratitude Impacts on the Spirit

Deepens Self-Connection – Self-gratitude encourages introspection and a deeper connection with your inner self. This introspective practice can lead to a more profound understanding of your values, desires, and purpose, aligning actions with true self-identity.

Cultivates Inner Peace: By appreciating your journey and embracing the present moment, self-gratitude fosters a sense of contentment and inner peace. It reduces the constant striving for external validation and allows for a more grounded and centred spirit.

Enhances Spiritual Growth – For many, gratitude is a spiritual practice. It opens the heart chakra, increases empathy, and connects them to something greater than themselves, whether that’s a community, nature, or a higher power. It can be a pathway to experiencing transcendence and interconnectedness.

Meditation

Self-Gratitude Impacts on the Life

Improves Relationships With Yourself and Others – Learning to love the true you can improve your relationship with yourself. As your self-acceptance and love improve, you are more inclined to treat your body with respect and compassion. This leads to healthier choices.

Your improved sense of self will likely rub off on others, improving positive relationships. But, an improved sense of self can also highlight where some people may be holding you back. With your increased love and respect for yourself, you will have an increased capacity to say no and cement those boundaries.

Builds Resilience to Manage Life’s Stressors – Acknowledging your strengths and achievements builds psychological resilience, enabling better coping with stress and adversity. It cultivates a mindset that views challenges as opportunities for growth rather than insurmountable obstacles, setting you up to manage the stressors that come your way.

Increases Life Satisfaction – Practicing self-gratitude shifts the focus from what’s missing to what’s abundant in your life, promoting a sense of satisfaction and joy. It encourages a celebration of the present and an appreciation for the unique path you are on, regardless of societal standards or expectations.

Self-care

Ways to Practice Self-Gratitude?

Embrace self-care

Take care of yourself! Focus on self-care activities that reflect self-gratitude, such as a relaxing bath, a favourite hobby, or a treat that makes you feel valued and cared for. You deserve it!

Redefine Success on your own terms

Put societal pressures and expectations aside and set your own goals. You determine what success is for you, not anyone else.

If there are days when getting up and showering is a success, then good on you for doing it and appreciate yourself. If getting married and having kids isn’t your life goal and you’d rather travel the world then that is your success story.

Affirmations and Positive Self-Talk

Being aware of your self-talk and taking directed action to improve this is one of the best ways to practice self-gratitude.

Repeat affirmations while you’re brushing your teeth, or getting ready for work.

Every time you catch yourself thinking something negative counter it with 2 positives.

Gratitude Journaling

Start a practice of writing one thing you love and appreciate about yourself every day. Try it for a month or even for a year. I challenge you to do it and not feel better about yourself.

My favourite part about this one is, by writing down the daily gratitudes, you can re-read these any time you need a pick me up.

See my other article on how to start journaling for tips.

Mel Robbin’s High Five Habit

Love Mel Robbins and her awesome evidence-backed self-help techniques. Mel has a book called The High Five Habit in which she recommends high-fiving yourself in the mirror every day giving yourself a boost of positive affirmation.

Final Thoughts

Self-Acceptance

Self-gratitude is more than self-care; it’s a transformative practice that reshapes how we view ourselves and our lives. It turns our unique paths into sources of strength and joy. By adopting simple acts of self-gratitude, we can foster a deeper connection with ourselves and lead a more fulfilling life.

Divine Masculine and Divine Feminine

Empower Your Life: Harmonize Divine Masculine and Divine Feminine Within

In the balance of our inner divine masculine and divine feminine, lies the profound question: Who are we, if not both the storm and the calm?

Hello Beautiful Souls, I’m glad you are here.

Divine Masculine and Divine Feminine

Often throughout history the masculine and feminine have been seen as separate and sometimes in opposition of one another. As gender roles and gender identity shift it is important to reflect on how these divine energies are impacting our inner worlds.

It’s important to note when discussing divine masculine and divine feminine I am not speaking about gender, it is different to male and female. Each energy lies within all of us – just as all things in nature have a duality so do we.

I have written this article as it’s important to reflect and be aware of the balance of energy we have. If we can learn to balance and embrace both divine energies, this empowers us to feel inner peace and strengthen our confidence and authenticity, by being more in touch with our true selves. It also gives us the power to improve our interactions and relationships with others. It even has a collective impact on the world around us.

Redefine Divine Masculine and Divine Feminine Energies

When we each hear the words masculine and feminine I’m sure we each have our own understanding and beliefs around these words. The definition of these words might mean different things because of culture, family or societal impacts on us as we form these opinions.

In this context, divine masculine and divine feminine actually refers to representations of different aspects of human experience and consciousness, like different qualities, traits and characteristics. These experiences lie outside of gender, how we were born and how we identify.

Divine Masculine Energy

  • Strength
  • Logic
  • Purpose Driven
  • Focused
  • Action
  • Protection
  • Controlled
  • Confident and self-assured

Divine Feminine Energy

  • Nurturing
  • Intuitive
  • Compassion
  • Empathy
  • Receptivity
  • Creativity
  • Vulnerability
  • Confident and self-assured

Historical And Modern Perspectives

Throughout history, the concepts of divine masculine and divine feminine energies have been present in cultural narratives, spiritual traditions and philosophical theories across the world. Ancient civilizations honoured the balance between these energies, embodying them in their deities, myths and societal roles, illustrating a deep understanding of their significance in maintaining harmony within the individual and the community.

Over the centuries, shifts in cultural patterns have led to an imbalance, with divine masculine qualities being overly emphasised in many societies. This imbalance has led to a disconnection from nurturing, intuitive and creative aspects.

Femininity
Masculinity

Currently, we are witnessing a rebalancing of these energies again. It’s not only about gender equality and understanding gender identity in a new, open way. But it’s also increased knowledge and understanding of the need for each of us to have a more balanced energy.

Example: we have seen a shift in attitudes towards traditional gender roles. Men are now more accepted in nurturing and empathic roles, taking on more domestic responsibilities, and the harmful “boys don’t cry” mentality is being challenged.

Additionally, there is a growing recognition of women’s need for balance in their work and family lives, less pressure to become mothers, and more encouragement to be independent and strong.

Recognising Imbalance in Energies

Divine Masculine Imbalance

  • Suppression of emotions
  • Aggression and violence
  • Hyper-independence
  • Relationships become transactional
  • Low self-esteem and confidence
  • Avoid any perceived vulnerability
  • Lack of empathy and compassion
  • Obsessed with achievement

Divine Feminine Imbalance

  • Over-giving (people-pleasing)
  • Self-neglect (prioritising others)
  • Emotional overwhelm
  • Overactive – can’t just ‘be’
  • Neediness due to feeling unworthy
  • Self-doubt
  • Victim mentality
  • Lacking assertiveness

Strategies for Harmonizing Divine Energies

Unblocking and healing our divine masculine and divine feminine energies is so important. But, how do we balance these divine energies?

Meditation – Regular mindful meditation allows you to connect with yourself and reflect on the balance between the two energies and how they are impacting you.
For additional assistance try a heart-opening ceremony using ceremonial cacao.

Journaling – Reflective journaling can help you discover and monitor any blockages in energy and notice how this is impacting you, your relationships and your life.

Movement – engaging in movement can be helpful. A mix of calming and connective movements like yoga or tai chi, helps embrace the smooth and nurturing feminine energy, and strength and weight training, to connect with assertive and powerful masculine energy.

Goal Setting and Visualisation – This is a great activity for balancing energy as it allows the intuitive and reflective feminine energy to create the goals and the structured and assertive masculine energy to work together.

Healing Blockages in Divine Feminine Energy

If you specifically feel you have a blockage in Divine Feminine Energy, you can also try:

Expressing yourself creatively – writing, painting, craft, movement, poetry…the list is endless.

Practising empathy in a healthy way – don’t people please! – You can empathise with someone without getting caught up in their issues or going out of your way to please or help them…leading to the next point.

Setting boundaries and protecting your energy – ensuring you have clear boundaries and you know what you will and won’t put up with or how far you will go to help. Check out my other article on protecting your energy for more tips.

Claim your space – As discussed above, feminine energy has had a more negative connotation within many cultures. This has often led to women feeling they need to dim their light and be apologetic for these feminine traits. Claim your space. Take up space. Be unapologetically YOU!

Divine Masculine

Healing Blockages in Divine Masculine Energy

If you specifically feel you have a blockage in Divine Feminine Energy, you can also try:

Become comfortable in your skin – Get connected to your body. Do mindful body scans, take care of your skin, and do a bit of self-care and pampering (no one has to know).

Be more accountable and take ownership – An imbalanced masculine energy can get pretty stubborn. To keep it balanced it can be healthy to reflect when you might be digging your heels in and take accountability for actions taken, words said.

Develop self-trust and intuition – Often divine masculine energy can disconnect us from our intuition and our ability to trust our gut instincts. Try to take more time when needing to make decisions and listen to what your body is telling you. Learn to trust yourself again.

Tune into your emotions – Emotional detachment can be hard to overcome because it can be easier and comfortable not to feel negative emotions. but tuning in, allowing yourself to feel the emotion in your body and finding healthy ways to express your emotion (through talking, exercise, writing or scream into a pillow if needed).

It is so important to be aware of and work on balancing the yin and yang energies within us for so many reasons. One of the most important reasons is it provides you with the best chance at being the best version of yourself, balanced, authentic and calm.

Embrace Wholeness

Imagine being able to be your true self, without judgment from yourself or worry of other’s opinions. Having a positive and healthy balance between these energies allows us to be our authentic selves, as we accept and love who we are. The good and the bad, we are present and integrated.

Enhancing Relationships

When we love and respect ourselves it also gives us the ability to, more deeply, love and respect others. This understanding and acceptance provides a safe space for those within the relationship to express themselves and receive understanding.

Strengthen Manifestations

Divine feminine energy helps us to explore our inner world and be more in touch with spiritual connections, needs and desires. For this reason, using our feminine energy to manifest and visualise our desired outcomes can strengthen the manifestation process. Divine masculine energy being more about movement and action is the part of us that then takes steps towards bringing these manifestations to fruition.

Divine Masculine and Divine Feminine

Balance of Emotions

This kind of seems like an obvious one but with the divine masculine and divine feminine being emotional counterparts it would make sense that embracing both would provide a sense of balance. Divine feminine beings about processing and expressing our emotions. Whilst divine masculine is about stablilty and logic. The two of these together create a beautiful balance.

Flow and Creativity

Similar to strengthening our manifestations when masculine and feminine energy are in flow we are in flow and able to tap into our more creative side. Feminine energy is about creativity and inspiration, whereas, masculine energy is structured and focused. This allows us to have creative ideas and the ability to follow through.

Balanced in Decision Making

When these two energies are working in harmony within us it can make it easier to make decisions. As pointed out above, it provides us with a balance of emotional energy which can be harnessed to make the best decisions for us. Feminine energy provides us with intuition that helps us reflect on what we need and empathy to consider others when needed. Masculine energy helps to analyse and consider the consequences of decisions.

The Collective Impact of Harmonizing Divine Energies.

Achieving balance between divine masculine and divine feminine energies can lead to a society that values empathy, creativity, and cooperation over judgment, competition, and conformity. Harmonizing our inner energies can create a more compassionate, creative, and connected community, from personal to professional interactions. It is a collective evolution towards a more balanced and inclusive world, empowering everyone to find their true power and potential.

The Secret To Resilience: The Truth About Mindful Self-Compassion

Mindful Self-Compassion

Hello Beautiful Soul, recent studies are showing that mindful self-compassion plays an important role in building resilience.

In this article, we will explore how being compassionate to ourselves can increase our resilience and give you 8 practices to build self-compassion.

  1. What is Resilience?
  2. What is Mindful Self-Compassion?
  3. Self-Compassion vs Mindful Self-Compassion

What is Resilience?

Resilience is the ability to cope with and recover from setbacks. People who remain calm in the face of disaster have resilience1. Resilience is like having a reserve of well-being and strength that you can call on in difficult times to help you stay strong.

Resilience is not the absence of stress, suffering or issues but it is the ability to work through the emotional pain.

Resilience is something that can be developed, but it can also decrease under prolonged stress. This is good news as it means we can develop and increase it. There are a lot of factors that can impact resilience including;

Resilience
  • Our internal world; self-esteem, determination, flexibility, forgiveness, optimism, a sense of purpose and meaning and of course, self-compassion.
  • Our external world; personal relationships, support networks, external motivating factors (something to get out of bed for) and community sense of connection and understanding.

What is Mindful Self-Compassion?

Mindful self-compassion is that understanding friend who says, “It’s okay, you’re doing your best,” when we stumble. When we practice self-compassion, we’re essentially extending the same kindness, understanding, and patience we offer to our closest friends, to ourselves.

Self-Love

Self-Kindness: At the heart of mindful self-compassion is self-kindness. This element encourages you to treat yourself with the same warmth and gentleness you’d offer to a dear friend. It’s about being understanding and patient with yourself, especially when life throws challenges your way. Instead of self-criticism, it’s like giving yourself a comforting hug, saying, “It’s okay, I’m here for you.”

Common Humanity: This part reminds you that you’re not alone in your experiences. It’s the recognition that as humans, we all make mistakes, face difficulties, and have moments of vulnerability. Common humanity helps you understand that your struggles are shared by others, fostering a sense of connection and compassion for yourself and those around you.

Humanity
Mindfulness

Mindfulness: Mindfulness is like the glue that binds the other elements together. It involves being fully present and aware of your thoughts and feelings without judgment. It’s about observing your emotions as they come, without trying to change them or criticize yourself for having them. Mindfulness helps you stay in the moment, promoting a healthier perspective on your experiences.

Self-Compassion vs. Mindful Self-Compassion: What’s the difference?

Self-Compassion

It’s about being kind and understanding toward yourself, acknowledging that making mistakes and facing challenges is a part of being human.

Mindful Self-Compassion

It’s self-compassion with an added dose of mindfulness, helping you become more aware of your thoughts and emotions in a non-judgmental way, fostering deeper emotional resilience.

How does Mindful Self-Compassion Build Resilience?

‘There is growing evidence that self-compassion is an inner resource that promotes resilience’2. The research done by Austin and his team shows that the elements involved in self-compassion, such as; mindfulness, self-kindness, and common humanity assist in building short and long-term resilience.

Consider this example:

Self-compassion in practice

Using the example above: the self-compassionate response and outcome show that self-kindness allows you to bounce back with resilience, enabling you to learn from the experience and adapt for the future.

Resilience, in this context, is your ability to not only weather the storm but to emerge from it stronger. Mindful self-compassion nurtures that inner strength by helping you regulate your emotions effectively, maintain a positive outlook, and seek support when needed.

Ways to Practice Self-Compassion Everyday

  1. Self-Kindness: Treat yourself with kindness, like you would a dear friend. Replace self-criticism with self-encouragement and understanding.
  2. Mindfulness: Cultivate mindfulness by being present with your thoughts and emotions without judgment. It helps you respond to difficulties with greater clarity and self-compassion.
  3. Common Humanity: Understand that everyone faces challenges and makes mistakes. Recognize that your struggles are part of the shared human experience, fostering connection and empathy.
  4. Self-Comforting Language: Use soothing and compassionate language when you talk to yourself. Replace negative self-talk with words of comfort and reassurance.
  5. Journaling/Self-Compassionate Writing: Write down your thoughts and feelings in a journal. Use this space to express self-compassion, acknowledge your experiences, and explore self-kindness.
Read more about how to start journaling.
  6. Practice Self-Validation: Acknowledge your emotions without judgment. Validating your feelings helps you accept them and respond with kindness and understanding.
  7. Set Realistic Expectations: Set achievable goals and expectations for yourself. Avoid perfectionism and embrace the idea that it’s okay to make mistakes and learn from them.
  8. Self-Care: Dedicate time for self-care activities that bring you joy and relaxation. Whether it’s reading, taking a bath, practising a hobby, or simply enjoying a cup of tea, self-care nourishes your soul and fosters self-compassion.
Self-Compassion

Final Thoughts

In a world where we often push ourselves to the limits, practising mindful self-compassion emerges as a vital tool in our resilience toolkit. It’s the understanding friend who stands by us when life throws its curveballs, reminding us that it’s okay to stumble and that in vulnerability, there is strength.

Resilience isn’t about never facing adversity; it’s about navigating those challenges with grace and emerging even stronger on the other side. And mindful self-compassion is the key that unlocks this inner strength.

So, as you embark on your journey of self-compassion, remember that it’s okay to be kind to yourself, to acknowledge that you’re not alone in your struggles, and to stay present in your own life story. With mindful self-compassion, you’re not just building resilience; you’re cultivating a kinder, more compassionate relationship with yourself—a gift that keeps giving, no matter what life brings your way.

Achieve Your Goals

How to Achieve Your Goals: The Surprising Success of Systems

Hello Beautiful Souls and Goal-Getters!

How to Achieve Your Goals

I’m sure we have all had that experience where you have set new goals for yourself and there’s plenty of determination and motivation. Then after a few day or weeks (maybe even hours) all that passion has drained. So the question is: how to achieve your goals? How do you keep the motivation? With New Years having just been and gone I’m sure we all some resolutions or goals in mind for 2024 but by the end of January the motivation is already waned or gone. Today we will dive into a secret recipe to achieve your goals every time. Lets dive in and start feeling the success of our goals achieved.

Why Goals Alone Don’t Cut It

Please don’t get me wrong in thinking I’m telling you not to set goals at all. Not the case! Goals are very important in life. They help to give you direction and meaning, taking the daily grind to new heights.

“Setting goals is the first step in turning the invisible into the visible.”

– Tony Robbins

However there are a number of issues with setting goals, especially those we set and forget.

Goals don’t equal your success

Merely setting a goal doesn’t guarantee the desired outcome. Like many things in life, it requires effort. Goals, even S.M.A.R.T. ones (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic, Time-limited), don’t provide a daily roadmap to the end result. This can result in a lack of motivation due to the enormity of the task, leading us to give up most of the time.

Momentary change no consistency

Goals, especially the ambitious ones, often demand an extreme change in lifestyle or habits, which is not always sustainable. This sudden change can lead to a quick burnout, as it may not be consistent with your current life patterns or rhythm. Hence, the motivation fades quickly, leading to abandonment of the goal.

Implies happiness is in the future not now

Goals can often create the illusion that happiness or fulfilment is just around the corner, waiting for us once we’ve achieved our objectives. This mindset can cause us to overlook the joy and contentment that can be found in our day-to-day lives, as we’re always looking ahead to the future. It can also lead to disappointment if we achieve the goal and happiness isn’t in the end result, or we inevitably realise there is another goal to go on with.

Doesn’t allow space for long-term achievement and evolution.

Setting goals and working towards them can often feel like you are only working towards a distant future, not leaving room for growth and development in the present. The focus on the end result can sometimes halt the process of evolution and long-term achievement.

Goals

Whether it’s a large, long-term goal or a small, short-term one, systems can help you create a pathway to success, overcoming the pitfalls of goal setting.

The Magic of Systems

This is where systems strut onto the stage. Unlike goals, systems are the daily habits and routines that nudge you closer to your dreams. It’s like the GPS, guiding you through each turn, to the outcome you want. James Clear, in his book “Atomic Habits,” nails it: “You do not rise to the level of your goals. You fall to the level of your systems.” Spot on, James!

Recommended read: Atomic Habits by James Clear.

Goal setting

Why Systems Work:

Consistency Over Intensity:

Systems prioritize regular action, where goals focus on outcomes. By taking our goals and breaking them down into small action steps then adding those steps into our lives in a systematic way is much more manageable than going from 0-100.

For example: if your goal is to start regular exercise – 5 days a week for 30 minutes each morning. Jumping from no exercise to this regimen could lead to exhaustion, overwhelm, loss of motivation, and eventually giving up. However, if you implement a systematic approach, you can gradually build up to your desired outcome. You could start with 10 minutes a day, 2-3 times a week, and slowly increase from there. In doing so, you’ve already achieved success.

Adaptability:

Systems are inherently flexible, allowing for adjustment and resilience in the face of change.

Continuing with the previous example: what if your life commitments change and you can’t exercise 5 days a week for 30 minutes as planned? Do you abandon the goal because you can’t keep up? With a system-based approach, the aim is simply to increase your exercise. This could mean less time but more days, or fewer days but more time. Your system can adapt to your lifestyle, making it flexible and sustainable.

Measuring Progress:

Systems enable real-time tracking of progress, offering regular feedback and motivation.

Keeping with the exercise goal: You have already achieved your goal by increasing, no matter what increasing looks like. Therefore, you can feel a sense of accomplishment early, increasing motivation rather than decreasing it. If you wait until your at your goal of 5 days a week for 30 minutes you won’t have the motivation of success to help you along.

How to Achieve your goals: Step-By-Step Guide:

Achieve Your Goals
  1. Define Your Lifestyle: It’s really important to consider your lifestyle; your routines, habits, and daily activities. Your systems should fit seamlessly into your lifestyle to maximize effectiveness. Not be an unmanageable burden.
  2. Remember your why: Understand what is important to you. Why is it worth putting these goals into your daily life. Keep a reminder of these visible and ease to remind you everyday; create a vision board, post-it notes, your phone/desktop wallpaper.
  3. Set Your Priorities: If you have more than one goal you are working on identify what areas in your life need improvement or attention, and set these as your priorities.
  4. Develop Small, Manageable Tasks: Break down your priorities into small, manageable tasks. This can make the system seem less daunting and easier to follow.
  5. Plan for Consistency: Incorporate these tasks into a daily or weekly routine. Consistency is key in making a system work. If you are someone who doesn’t do well with routine that ok too, don’t be too restricting – if you can’t do it the same time everyday, just make it consistent and do it sometime that day.
  6. Monitor Your Progress: Regularly check in with your progress. This can help you stay motivated and let you adjust the system if needed. Habit tracking and journaling your progress can be really helpful.
  7. Seek Continuous Improvement: Always look for ways to improve the system. The goal is to make the system better and more efficient over time. Keep moving the outcome goal post if needed.
  8. Stay Flexible: Life changes, and your system should be able to adapt with it. Flexibility is crucial in maintaining a system that aligns with your lifestyle and values.

Final Thoughts

Commonly we ask ourselves how to achieve our goals. Goals are the destination, but systems are the journey – and let’s be honest, the journey is where the magic happens. By focusing on building effective systems, you’re setting yourself up for sustainable success. Switching to a systems mindset does wonders for your mental health. Systems take away the focus on the deadlines, brings focus to the now, and the steps it takes for success. This shift reduces stress and makes the process a lot more fun allowing for sustained motivation. Remember, it’s the little things done consistently that lead to massive results.
So, let’s start building those systems and turn those dreams into reality!

How To Start Journaling to Discover Your Best Self

Including 16 Journal Prompts to Start Your Journaling Journey!

Journaling

Hello Beautiful Souls!

Are you wondering how to start journaling and embark on a transformative journey? Through my time working as a Counsellor and in my own spiritual growth journey, I’ve seen first-hand how journaling can open doors to our deepest selves. I’m excited to help you discover the same for yourself. Let’s explore how this simple practice can unlock your path to personal growth and self-awareness.

The Power of Journaling in Self-Discovery

Journaling is more than just writing down your thoughts. It’s an intimate process that helps peel back the layers of your inner self. It’s your personal space to explore emotions, dreams, and aspirations. It can provide clarity on current issues, provide healing from traumas in your past or provide closure in times of grief or anger. Imagine having a conversation with your deepest self – that’s what journaling can be.

As the number of studies increased, it became clear that writing was a far more powerful tool for healing than anyone had ever imagined.

— James W. Pennebaker

6 Major Benefits of Journaling Practice

1. Healthy Outlet For Suppressed Emotion

There are many reasons we supress our emotions, from not feeling safe, to childhood programming that you’re not supposed to or not wanting to be a burden on someone. Not expressing our emotions can cause significant emotional consequences. Often it can lead to outbursts of anger or tears that can hurt others or happen at really inappropriate times. Journaling creates a safe, judgement free zone to express these emotions. Therefore, reducing the risks of damaging relationships, minimising mood swings and irritability.

2. Helps You Achieve Your Goals

Ever felt stuck in a rut or bored of life? Ever had a goal in mind but not sure how to achieve it? Often its a lack of clarity that can cause these feelings. Journaling allows you to lay out all the areas of your goal and break it down into steps you can take and explore the barriers that may be hiding below the surface.

Journaling Benefits

3. Improves Emotional Intelligence

Emotional intelligence is ‘the ability to manage both your own emotions and understand the emotions of people around you’ (Mental Health America). One of the key elements of Emotional Intelligence is Self-Awareness. Journaling helps us to increase our self-awareness by helping to break down our thoughts, feelings and behaviours and giving us an understanding of our automatic reactions and thoughts that often overlook.

4. Positive Impact on Physical Health

Did you know that journaling can be a secret weapon for your physical health? It’s true! When we write down our thoughts and feelings, it’s not just an emotional release; it can actually lead to physical benefits. This practice helps reduce stress, which means less stress hormone cortisol. More cortisol over a long periods of time can equal poor physical health.

From lowering blood pressure to improving immune function, journaling is like a multi-vitamin for your overall well-being. So next time stress is getting on top of you, try reaching for your journal!

5. Improves Your Outlook And Mindset.

Have you ever sat down with your best friend and talked abut life or your stresses, then noticed after you feel a lot more positive and optimistic. Think of your Journal as your new best friend. Transforming your thoughts from a jumble of worries into written words can be incredibly powerful. It’s like decluttering your mind! This simple act of self-expression helps you gain perspective, focus on the positives, and cultivate a more optimistic outlook on life.

6. Helps to process Trauma or Crisis Situations.

I’m sure we have all had times of crisis or intense stress. Journaling can provide a safe and non-judgemental place to process your complex emotions and experiences. It provides a private space to unpack your thoughts and feelings, allowing you to understand and heal at your own pace. Remember, your journal doesn’t judge; it listens. That’s what makes it a powerful tool in healing and reclaiming your strength.

How to Start Journaling Tips

Setting Up Your Journaling Practice Choosing the right method of journaling is your first step. Pick something that feels inviting and special to you. I personally love the feeling of pen to paper. But I know that doesn’t resonate or work for everyone! Most important thing I want you to take away from reading this article is the understanding that journaling can be unique to you! Don’t let the format or process seem too big and stop you from getting started. You can type it into a word document, use an app on your phone or use voice recorder or a combination. It has to work for you and feel like something you will keep coming back to.

Benefits of Journaling

Find a comfortable spot where you can write freely and without interruptions (even if that means in the car if home is too busy). Make it that you are in your favourite space in your house, with things you love. For me it’s in my favourite chair with my cushion and blanket, my singing bowl, salt lamp and crystals if I feel drawn to particular ones for that day or for the topic I’m writing on. Sometimes I also use ceremonial cacao to help to allow the stress of the day to melt away go deeper and open myself up to spiritual messages.

Consistency is crucial – even a few minutes each day can spark significant changes. This can be a few minutes of what’s called ‘stream of consciousness’ writing or brain dumping as I like to call it. This is where you write whatever comes to mind, it doesn’t even need to make sense. Or its prompted questions that help guide you through particular issues or ideas (see the prompts below to get you started).

How to Make it a Habit

Tips to keep up the habit –

  • Journal at the same time every day or on the same day every week.
  • Set a reminder alarm
  • Habit stack but adding journaling to a routine you already do – keep your journal near the coffee maker to remind you in the morning, keep it on the couch so you do it instead of watching TV.
  • Start with only 10 or 15minutes a day
  • Plan a selfcare reward after; like a walk, a shower, time relaxing watching TV.
  • Create a beautiful and soothing routine to make it a pleasant experience.

What is Energy Protection?

Energy protection involves safeguarding and preserving our personal energy, including our mental and spiritual well-being. It creates balance, harmony, and overall well-being.

Your energy is more than just how you feel through the day and whether you have enough energy to exercise or go out. In some cultures, it is also referred to as Qi, Vitality, Kundalini and Prana. It encompasses our emotions, our thoughts and even our soul. It is important to protect this energy to ensure what we think, and feel is ours alone.

Why is it Important to Protect Your Energy?

Have you ever had the experience of making a decision that brings you happiness or excitement, and it just feels right?! But then, when you talk to other people about it, their opinions dampen your excitement.

Alternatively, have you ever noticed your mood changing when you’re around someone? It could be someone in a really bad mood, being negative, brings you down or someone extremely happy and laughing, which lifts your mood.

Protecting our energy is crucial for several reasons:

  1. To helps us maintain our overall well-being. When our energy is drained or depleted, we may experience fatigue, stress, and a lack of motivation.
  2. Protecting our energy helps us establish boundaries and prevent others from draining our energy or taking advantage of us.
  3. Stay aligned with our true selves and our goals. When our energy is scattered or influenced by external factors, it becomes challenging to focus on what truly matters to us. By protecting our energy, we can stay connected to our purpose and pursue a fulfilling life.

Energy Protection

4 Magical Strategies for Spiritual Energy Protection

When it comes to protecting your energy, it’s important to not only focus on your mental well-being but also your spiritual well-being. Here are four powerful strategies for spiritual energy protection:

5. Energy Cleansing Rituals

Energy cleansing rituals are practices that help remove any negative or stagnant energy from your space and aura. These rituals can include smudging with sage or other herbs and incense, drawing protection sigils or performing a salt bath. By regularly cleansing your energy, you can create a more positive and harmonious environment for yourself.

6. Meditation/Visualization

Meditation and visualization are powerful tools for protecting your spiritual energy (and my favourite!!). Taking time to quiet your mind and connect with your inner self can help you release any negative energy and restore balance. One technique I personally use everyday is visualizing. Visualize a protective shield or light surrounding you helps ward off any negative influences or energies.

7. Chakra Balancing

Chakras are energy centres within the body and balancing them is essential for protecting your spiritual energy. There are various techniques for balancing chakras, such as meditation, energy healing, or using specific crystals associated with each chakra. By keeping your chakras balanced, you can maintain a healthy flow of energy throughout your body and promote overall well-being.

8. Crystal Healing

Crystals have unique energetic properties that can help enhance and protect your energy. You can choose crystals that resonate with you and carry them with you or place them in your environment. Some crystals known for their protective properties include black tourmaline, amethyst, and selenite. By harnessing the energy of crystals, you can create a shield of protection around you.

3 Practical Strategies for Everyday Energy Protection

How to Protect Your Energy

In our fast-paced and hectic lives, it’s important to prioritize our energy and protect it from unnecessary drains. Here are three practical strategies for everyday energy protection:

9. Adequate Sleep

Getting enough sleep is crucial for maintaining optimal energy levels. When we are well-rested, we have more mental clarity, focus, and overall well-being. Aim for 7-9 hours of quality sleep, however, I believe that its best to try to sleep with your body’s natural rhythms as much as possible. Create a relaxing bedtime ritual, avoid stimulating activities before bed, and ensure your sleep environment is comfortable and conducive to restful sleep.

10. Digital Detox

In today’s digital age, we are constantly bombarded with notifications, emails, and social media updates, which can be overwhelming and draining. 4 Main Areas of Spiritual Psychology

Spiritual psychology is like the ultimate life hack! It’s all about embracing the fact that our body, mind, and soul are all working together to make us truly feel alive. Instead of just seeing ourselves as physical beings, it’s all about tapping into our inner essence and nurturing our spiritual selves.

Mind Spirit Life is about work toward educating and integrating these teachings with a focus on 4 main areas:

Self-Discovery

Finding and feeling confident in your identity. It’s hard sometimes to know yourself, truly, and to feel safe to stand in your identity when there is family, friends, work, social media, and general media telling us who we should be and what we should like and want. Mind Spirit Life is explores areas of identity to provide clarity, self-awareness and the confidence to stand in your own identity.

Finding Purpose and Meaning

Spiritual Psychology can help you uncover your true purpose in life and be happy with however that looks. Discovering purpose and meaning in your life gives a sense of direction, something to work towards and something to focus on which can help with low mood and anxieties.

Holistic Well-being

Holistic wellbeing includes the mind body and spirit in how you are feeling and interacting in the world. If one of these centres are off its not surprising if multiple areas are becoming a struggle. By taking a holistic approach to well-being allows for a broader range of strategies and management options. From Cognitive Behavioural Therapy to Yoga to Chakra Balancing.

Increased Resilience

In today’s world where it can seem that there are tragic stories and saddening news everywhere we turn it is important to continually increase our resilience. Resilience is the capacity to recover quickly from difficulties, therefore, this is an incredibly important area to focus on nowadays especially.

The Intersection of Mind, Body and Spirit

Mind spirit life

Something being discussed more and more recently is the Mind-Body Connection. The mind-body connection is the relationship between thoughts, beliefs and emotions and your physical body. It includes the nervous system, endocrine system and the immune system. It reflects that our mental state affects our physical well-being and vice versa. There is growing evidence to reflect that this is accurate and that emotions such as stress, depression and anxiety can impact our physical body over time, increasing our risk of disease and illness.

Spiritual health also needs to be considered in this connection for a truly holistic perspective on well-being. Spiritual health includes the interaction between the mind-body and how connected we feel on a spiritual level. The connections can be connection to Universe, Source, God (which ever name fits best for you), it can also mean the connections with have with friends, family and community. There is also a lot of evidence to show the importance of the connections in our life keeping us strong in tough times which in turn reflects healthy bodies.
